Also known as District Horse Bowl. Which is also known as the nerve-wracking step before State.
SAHC's two teams, along with a few parents, made our way up to the Guildford County Extension Office bright and early Saturday morning. Athletic butterflies were somersaulting in almost every competitor's stomach. Or wherever they reside. Approximately 45 minutes after leaving the Riddell's, we pulled into the parking lot and began pouring out of the vehicles.
The team captains of each division went up and drew numbers to determine who and when we would play. Alamance B vs. Wake somebody would be the second match of Round One.(Sorry, there were soooo many Wake teams. I can't possibly remember all of their letters. haha)
It was time to put our knowledge to the test.
I. Was. So. Nervous. Usually, after getting into the round and answering a question, I'll settle down. Not this Saturday. For some reason, I was wound tight throughout the whole thing. For bonus questions, which require multiple answers, they provide the team captains with a pad and pencil to write things down. My hand was shaking so bad, I dropped the pencil at least twice. There was no way I could actually use it to write. :)
We ended up winning the match, 13-3, and moved to the barn holding room.
We played the same team again in the championship round, and it was a little scary the first half of the round, but we ended up winning 10-3. WE MADE IT TO STATE!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excitement? Oh yeah. The junior team had already won their division, so they were able to watch our final round. After the scores were verified, we were running around the room hugging each other. Oh, it was great.
Then we went back into the main holding room for awards. Like I already said, our junior team (Bob, Rachel, Mary, Alexandria, and Reagan) won. Rachel won high individual and Bob won 3rd high individual!! Then they announced the mixed awards, and my team (Hannah, MJ, Victoria, Brianna, and myself) went up to collect our ribbons. I was so, so happy when they called my name for high individual, and then MJ won 4th!
We're studying like crazy for State, which will be March 5th. The hippology test and judging is also that day....so it's gonna be a humdinger :)
I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!
P.S. Sorry, this post was NOT well written at all. Oh well :D
