I have only a few pictures, and technically they aren't mine. I'm very grateful to Facebook and people with cameras who uploaded their pictures and tagged me! :)
My dress was borrowed from the Henry's, so the fit wasn't perfect, but no complaints here! It was blue, sort of silky, and I loved it :) The other girls' dresses were beautiful as well - I'll point out my favorites in the pictures below.
The Pickard's, Teague's, and myself (Noah elected not to attend) rode together to the church, and it was a very enjoyable ride. I believe we were all in agreement that JL does not know how to follow directions :) Don't backseat drivers always know better? Thank you, glad you agree.
Before the dance actually started, several parents wanted pictures, so we all attempted to put ourselves in some sort of order and paste a smile on our face for what seemed like eternity. To quote Bob, "I completely understand why models walk around mad all the time. This is ridiculous!"

Finally, after several technical difficulties with the microphone, the dance began! Oh, perhaps I should explain a few of the terms. Couples are partners...and you're either a one or a two, depending on your position in the line. Squares are a pair of two couples, and first and second corners are the ladies and gentlemen diagonal from either other in the same square. The only dance where this is different is the Virginia Reel, which I will explain later.
The first dance was the Spaniard...Billy Bob (names have been changed to protect the guilty), who was not my partner but was in my square, was slightly confused. He thought that the 2's moved down and the 1's moved up...he was wrong, however, but by the time we straightened out what we were supposed to be doing, our line was all messed up and we had to start over. :) It's all part of the fun, though! Everyone is confused at one point or another...

We would do 2-3 dances, then take a short break to eat, chat, or head outside for a few minutes to cool off...it was very, very warm in the building!

| hahaha...half of us realized Mrs. Wood was trying to take a picture. Half of us were concentrating on the conversation :) (L2R - Brandon, Ryan, Delvin, Kelly, Amelia, Amanda, Tim, and myself) |

| Addie and Simon as head couple in the Virginia Reel |
I cannot recall the name of my favorite dance, so I shall refer to it as The Twirly Dance. :) Jesse and I succeeded in completing 4 spins in 8 counts...quite a feat in a long dress. :)
I also liked the Virginia Reel...and the fast ones. They were really, really easy to get lost in (and we did, more than once) but they were so much fun!!! One time, Kyle and I tripped each other and almost fell flat on our faces (at least I did), and we weren't even in the same square...
In conclusion, I had a blast! I'm already excited about next year...hmm, maybe we should have another dance in the fall, instead of waiting for next March? :)

Wow. That looks like SO much fun! Thank you very much for posting about it. I loved the pictures--especially your dress! Powder blue is a great color on you. The Twirly Dance sounds like fun (and that's a good name for it!) What kind of music did you use? Was it authentic Regency-era music?
Oh, and your comments about the loooong photo-taking made me smile. Reminiscent of the homeschoolers' portrait before the SNSB awards banquet! :)
Thanks, Amy :) And yes, it was authentic music! Ohh...the homeschool portrait...that was dreadful :P
Heehee. But it's a fun memory--and I have at least six different pictures from the photo shoot (with twenty-some kids in various stages of uncomfortable-ness and awkward smiling). Good times, good times. You had it easy, :) 'cause you were in the front and didn't have to stand en pointe to see over the other kids' heads. :P
