Many of the events in my life during the past couple of weeks all testify that Summer indeed is gone. For me, anyway. One thing I will not be sorry to see go is the 90+ degree days that have overpowered these past three months. My life will slow back down to a more realistic pace. A new school year has begun, and I hopefully shall emerge from my sophomore year with much more wisdom than I had when I began. Honestly, I think that the new year should begin on September 1st. It just makes so much more sense. But anyway...here is a brief (or not so brief) update on what's going on in my life. I may or may not have the chance to add pictures later :)
Classes began at Veritas
Wednesday, August 25, was my first day at Veritas. Veritas is sort of like a homeschool coop, but we pay tuition to the teachers....who are homeschool parents. I am enrolled in Chemistry 101, Website Development & Design, and High School Chorus. Today was our second meeting, (we meet once a week) and I think I'm really going to enjoy having classes over there. I've already met one new friend, and I hope and believe she will not be the last.
This doesn't really have anything to do with the fact that summer is over, but I thought I'd include it anyway :) I got a new haircut last week....thinned, layered, and side bangs. Definitely a big difference, but I think I'm really going to like it.
The Bible Bee
More on this after tonight, but the Local Bible Bee, which I have been studying for all summer, was August 28th. Tonight, at exactly 8:30PM, they release the contestant ID's of the finalists who will advance to National's. I. Am. So. Excited.
Saturday's in Saxapahaw
August 28th also marked the last night of the Saxapahaw Farmer's Market. My "summer job" of selling strawberry lemonade has ended. That, however, is not the only reason I am going to miss it. :) We've met several of the vendors, and gotten to know them fairly well. Hopefully we'll all be back next year, but nothing is decided for sure. We are not saying goodbye to all of our Sax friends though....Dad has built a good friendship with Jeff from the Saxapahaw General Store, and we are continuing to supply them with chickens and some produce.
My "Job"
I've been a working student for Lindsay Riddell this summer, working every Thursday for four hours in return for a lesson on Friday. I've learned so much, and not all through the scheduled 'lessons'. Although I'm not quitting, I am cutting back to every other week to leave room for school. :)
The Wordless Book
This has nothing to do with Summer being gone either, but oh well!
Our assistant/youth pastor, Danny Wicker, asked the teens to write a preform a skit on the wordless book. So, me and Allyson got together yesterday afternoon and within a couple of hours had a decent five page skit completed. Now to delegate parts and convince everyone that it's really not that hard to memorize a few lines. Oh, and by the way, we have a jumpstart on our Christmas play too.....so teens, get ready.
The Equestrian Exchange
...unofficially begins today! People are bringing their horsey consignment items to the somethingsomething dome building in Raliegh as I type. Ms. Rebecca, Allie, and I are headed down tomorrow to volunteer and get in on the volunteer shopping day :) We're going back Monday to help with the breakdown and complete the required number of hours. I'm so excited! There's always so much cool stuff for a great price.
Well, I think this is enough for now.....comment away and let me know your thoughts!
