State Horse Bowl!

State Horse Bowl was Saturday, March 6th, at A&T University in Greensboro, NC!

To briefly sum it up, horse bowl is sorta like horse jeopardy...except you have teams. 


Both Southern Alamance Horse Club teams (mixed and junior) won their divisions at district which gave us the opportunity to advance to the state level!

Out of 12 of the best teams in the state, our junior team consisting of Bob (Allie), Rachel, Kathleen, Mary, and my little sister Faith (coached by Mrs. Riddell) placed 5th! Allie-Bob achieved 4th high individual! :) Congratulations to yall!

Then, out of 14 of the best mixed teams in the state, our mixed team consisting of Allie R., Hannah, Heidi, Nathan, and Yours Truly (coached by Lindsay R) also placed 5th! High-scoring individuals were Hannah (10th), Allie R (3rd), and myself (9th).

Also, we had the hippology exam, ID's, and judging! Hippology means the study of horses, and the exam is muliple choice knowlege questions. ID's are pictures of things that you have to, well, identify! Then judging is pretty self-explanatory - we judge 4 classes of horses, two halter and two performance.

Allie R was our lone senior to participate in hippology this year, and she was amazing! She placed 4th in judging with a terrific score - the top 3 were tied with perfect scores, and then placed 10th overall individually!

As for the juniors, Allie-Bob placed 7th in judging, 10th on the exam/ID's, then 10th overall! :) I did not place in judging (that is definitely not one of my strong points) but I was the high-scorer on the exam/ID's with a score of 582 out of 600, which combined with my judging scores gave me enough to achieve Junior Horseman woman of the Year! Our junior hippology team consisting of Nathan, Allie-Bob, Rachel, and myself placed first. :)
